A visiting bug

Praying Mantis - Click image for larger view
Yesterday at work this guy came into the shop for a visit and posed for me as I took a few pictures. My friend Mike spotted him and called me out to where he was waiting to have his photo taken. So thanks to Mike and thanks to the bug for these great shots.

When I went to pick him up the little bugger attacked me, I think he thought he was going to throw me to the ground. I gently walked him outside and showed him where the sunshine was. . . all the while he had me in a death grip.

Slater Mill, Pawtucket - Click Image to view Panorama
It is that time of year once again when I shoot for the World Wide Panoramas event that takes place during the solstices and equinoxes.  The theme for this event is History and what better place than the birthplace of the industrial revolution, Slater Mill in Pawtucket, Rhode Island

Moonlight Schooner off Newport - click image for larger view
A photo from a couple of weeks ago when we went down to Newport. I worked on this image a bit in Photoshop and rather like how it came out. Comments?

September Stars

September Stars from Edward Huff on Vimeo.

Another time lapse experiment.  This time in my driveway trying to shoot some stars with a really bright moon. Short but good proof of concept... and I like the cat on the roof at the 3 second mark. . .
Shot with a Nikon D300s, Nikkor 10.5 mm lens,  f2.8, 360 ISO, 10 second exposure every 12 seconds - video is running at 30 fps.

Brenton Point Time Lapse

On Saturday night Ben, Rob, and I took our cameras and sat on the rocks in Newport for a few hours capturing some images.  This is a time lapse I shot... I was hoping for something quite different but had the exposures too short and got this instead.  It was a learning experience and hopefully next time will get it right.
